The New Year's Meme

Which is, to post the first line of the first post of each month of 2008. In my case I skip the first post if it is only a quote or video or link -- I have to at least have made some sort of commentary. Here goes (click on the month for the full post):

January:
The revgals Friday Five:

1. Do you make New Year resolutions?
Not really. I forgot about them, or wanted to think up something more creative than the traditional "eat healthy, exercise more..." and couldn't...so I just stopped doing it years ago.

February:
I Am Chorus nominated me for this award! Thank you!

March:
Yes, that's right.

April:
Well, if I had to come back from Mexico, at least I have come back to baseball season!

May:
Deliberate

Being a poem in the margin of the notebook page after watching clips of the film "Romero," about the life and assassination of MonseƱor Oscar Romero, including the one above, in class this morning.

June:
I cleaned out my carrel yesterday (more on that later), which I hadn't really been to in a week or so.

July:
One of the things I like about baseball is that almost every game, you see something you haven't seen before.

August:
You know who you are, FSN Rocky Mountain and ESPN.

September:
You know, for someone who is unemployed, I have been awfully busy lately.

October:
What a day, what a year.

November:
I love Roger Ebert's writing.

December:
I used to go to church with this amazing woman when we lived in Tucson.

---------------

So there you go. One of the most interesting things I noticed was that I posted the most during May -- 34 total posts, more than there are days in the month. If you remember anything at all about May, that was the month of finishing all my schoolwork in order to graduate AND going on trial...how in the world did I figure out how to post that much? I am totally laughing at myself.

The fewest posts came in August...probably about the time the post-graduation euphoria wore off and the "what-the-F-am-I-doing" kicked in...I notice there is less "me" and more "Thoughts" as the year wound down, as well. I wonder if I was just worn out...still worn out, in certain ways.

It's interesting to go back and review the year. There was some hard stuff, no? But good stuff, too. Life. Some of my favorite posts speak to that paradox, of the hard and the good being lived simultaneously: this one, this one, this one, this one, this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one.

I'm looking forward to a calmer year, but certainly not one without its fair share of adventure and excitement!

I'm glad y'all are all here.

Peace, y'all -- towanda
